DICKINSON, N.D.—Long after the stands had cleared and the sprinklers kicked on, Bobby Jackson knelt at home plate, head in his hands. Jackson, along with the rest of the Omaha Burke Black Bulldogs were not ready to go home, but their time had come. A 5-3 loss to North Dakota state champion West Fargo eliminated the Nebraska state champs from the Central Plains Regional Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 11 in American Legion baseball at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark.
DICKINSON, N.D.—West Fargo and walk-off wins. The two seem to go together, as for the second time in three days, the Patriots came from behind to win in the final frame. Down three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday, West Fargo rallied for a 5-4 victory against Dubuque County (Iowa) during the Central Plains Regional tournament in American Legion baseball at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark. With the win, West Fargo is the only undefeated team remaining in the tournament.
DICKINSON, N.D.—Tristen Roehrich was nearly perfect. The West Fargo Patriots pitcher threw a complete game against Millard West (Neb.), allowing three hits and no runs. The right-hander earned the shutout win as the Patriots topped the Wildcats 2-0 on Thursday, Aug. 9, in American Legion baseball at the Central Plains Regional Tournament at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark.
DICKINSON, N.D.—Breathe. That's what West Fargo center fielder Tanner Zepeda was thinking when he stepped to the plate in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and a man on during a tie game. He sent the 1-1 pitch from Tri-City Red pitcher John Solfest careening out of the infield, scoring Drake Flesche for the 6-5 walk-off American Legion baseball win over Minnesota state champion Tri-City Red.
DICKINSON, N.D. -- The Dickinson State men’s basketball team is under new management. Former North Dakota State basketball player Josh Vaughan will take over the 2016 North Star Athletic Association regular-season champion team following former head coach Justin Wetzel departing for the Wisconsin Herd, an expansion team in the NBA G League.
