MSUM's Young earns All-American honors in 1,500 race

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Minnesota State Moorhead senior Josh Young earned the third All-American honors of his track-and-field career by placing eighth in the 1,500-meter run Saturday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.

Young ran a time of 3 minutes, 46.74 seconds—just 1.40 seconds behind the winner David Ribich of Western Oregon. Young, a Moorhead High School graduate, was in the top four for much of the race. He finished just .28 seconds out of fifth place.

"Today's race didn't have the outcome that Josh wanted but it did show the competitiveness that has defined his career as a Dragon," said MSUM head coach Ryan Milner. "Rather than show up just to place he put himself in a position to take a shot at the win."

Young was an All-American in outdoor track and cross country in 2017-18. His track career is concluded but he has one season of cross country remaining this fall.
