McNutt loses no-hit bid in ninth inning, leads RedHawks to victory

GARY, Ind.—Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks starting pitcher Trey McNutt pitched a complete-game, two-hitter to lead his team to a 7-1 victory against Gary SouthShore on Friday at the U.S. Steel Yard.

McNutt struck out 10 batters and carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning. Gary's Cole Fabio had a one-out double in the ninth to break up the no-hit bid.

"That was a performance you don't see very often at any level," said RedHawks manager Michael Schlact.

The RedHawks (48-42) snapped a four-game losing streak. They are 3 1/2 games behind Gary SouthShore (52-39) for the second playoff spot in the North Division.

Maikol Gonzalez and Yhoxian Medina each had two RBIs for F-M.
