A year ago about this time, Tyler Roehl was a converted fullback with 10 career carries. Pat Paschall, meanwhile, was a junior college transfer with zero career attempts. Moreover, Paschall hadn’t been in a game since high school in the fall of 2004.

This is how the spread offense is supposed to work. Fargo North ran for 138 yards and passed for 130 en route to a convincing 30-0 victory against Mandan in the home opener at Spartan Field.
