Letter: Palmer Forness was a remarkable man
A few days ago I read the obituary of Palmer Forness. Palmer and his wife, Beulah, lived next door to us on Oak Street when I was a kid growing up in Fargo. It brought back memories of that time and of Palmer, especially one of a man who always had a smile on his face and a willingness to help whenever he could.
I also remember Palmer cutting out Christmas characters out of plywood, painting them, and putting them up in his front yard during the Christmas season. They were lit up, with Christmas music playing from outdoor speakers. It was always nice when I was walking home at night after playing hockey at Mickelson Field to go by Palmer's house and listen to that.
