Arlene J. Carlson

Arlene J. Carlson of Fargo, ND passed away on October 9, 2018.

She was born in Fargo, the daughter of Earl and Olga Myers. She attended schools in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School. After graduation she worked for Firestone, GMAC and Nodak Ford Tractor Company.

In December 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Carlson. They made their first home at the Air Force Base in Furstenfeldbruck, Germany. Their son David was born while they lived in Germany. Their daughter, Rebecca (Becky) was born while they were later stationed at Ellsworth AFB, S.D. In later years she was employed at the USAF Hospital Dental Clinic in S.D. the Air Weather Service Headquarters in Scott AFB, IL and Allied Florist Association in Washington, DC, where she assisted in the production of the Annual National Capital Flower and Garden Show.

Arlene was extremely proud of her family and thoroughly enjoyed her role as a military wife and mother. The role of a military wife was difficult at times due to extended separations and frequent transfers to overseas and US locations. Arlene always made the best of any situation she found herself in, making any house or apartment into a warm welcoming home for her family and friends. She taught Sunday School and sang in church or military chapel choirs. With her husband, Art, she was parental co-chair of the Revelation Generation, an ecumenical youth musical group of about 100 high school children which was organized thru the Wiesbaden AB, Germany Chapel and performed concerts to German and US military audiences. After Art and Arlene retired to the lakes, she was a member of Lake Park Lutheran Church and sang in the choir for many years. Arlene was a member of the Oak Grove Lutheran School GROVER Club and Concordia College C-400 Club. She also was a charter member of the Lake Park Area Community Choir which for many years performed annual Christmas Cantatas for the benefit of local charities. Arlene and Art hosted an annual Carlson Labor Day Weekend BBQ at the lakes. Every family get-together was a big and important occasion in her life. She also enjoyed family vacations and their extended annual trips to the desert Southwest.
