Third person dies from crash near Milbank in far northeast SD
MILBANK, S.D. – A third person has now died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred June 18, four miles north of Milbank.
Gerald Boerger, 82, of Milbank, was driving a 1994 Mack dump truck westbound and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with South Dakota Highway 15, said the South Dakota State Patrol. The truck collided in the intersection with a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox that was northbound on the highway.
Boerger sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. He died Tuesday, July 3..
Both occupants of the Equinox died at the scene of the crash. They were the driver, 79-year-old Arlo Hurley, and the passenger, 71-year-old Kathleen Hurley.
All three people were wearing seatbelts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
