FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — The Otter Tail County Historical Society will host an exterior tour of the Kirkbride here at 7 p.m. Friday, July 6.

The "Stories from the State Hospital" tour will explore the architectural concepts of mental health pioneer Thomas A. Kirkbride by going beyond bricks and mortar to examine stories and events that have largely been ignored.

The site of the Kirkbride Asylum, which formerly operated as the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center, has made headlines in recent months as city leaders have started to move forward with demolition plans.

Attendees of the July 6 tour are asked park in the Government Services parking lot and gather at the far west side of the hospital. The cost of the tour is $6.
