New memory care facility planned in Moorhead
MOORHEAD—Owners of BeeHive Homes in Moorhead, a memory care and assisted living franchise based in Boise, Idaho, broke ground late last month on the first of four senior care facilities planned at 1001 Caddy Ave. in Moorhead.
Erin Heitzmann, a nurse and administrator of a BeeHive assisted living facility in Missoula, Mont., said the first property will be memory care specific. The others are planned as assisted living facilities, but she said that may change based on need.
Each property will feature 16 private units, something Heitzmann said sets BeeHive Homes apart from other senior care facilities.
Heitzman said all BeeHive properties are small in size and designed to feel like home. Smaller facilities and staff benefit seniors, especially those with memory loss, Heitzmann said.
Another difference is that the facility is not owned and managed by a corporate entity. Heitzmann said franchise owners are typically very hands-on and work at the property.
BeeHive Homes of Moorhead is owned by Mark and Alyce Goldthorpe.
Minnesota is home to other BeeHive franchises in Excelsior, Duluth and Elk River.
